Trumpeter, arranger and composer Jason Hunter combines modern jazz with the best musical traditions in style of Neo-Bop, Hard Bop and West Coast and his music can be considered a special refreshment for the mind, body and soul.
LP includes five tracks; three original compositions and two arrangements of jazz standards.
Jason Hunter about the all-analogue recording session:
The studio and engineering space were two small but cosy rooms filled with Vinyls, Artwork, Literature, and vintage instruments and recording equipment that inspired a very productive vibe and positive connection between the musicians and engineers immediately.
We got to work almost right away. Rehearsing the music and getting the recording levels just right.
Mareks and Martins were there to support the musicians at every turn. I felt relaxed enough to ask for anything we needed and when it was time to work they were ready to capture the music.
It was a great experience recording direct to tape. Trying to accomplish the best group take possible was difficult but the environment at the studio made us comfortable and inspired to accomplished something special.
Atis Andersons (Latvia) is a fantastic Organ player. My compositions and arrangements were made specifically with his Organ playing in mind. He brought a soulful and sophisticated sound to the album that I was very happy with.
Augustas Baronas (Lithuania) is one of the top jazz Drummers in the Baltics and plays masterfully. The music for the session required very different grooves and rhythms that he performed effortlessly all while adding his own personal touch and complementing the band. We are truly lucky to have him.
Allan Kaljaste (Estonia) on Alto Sax was a great addition to the project.
He is a very passionate and energetic player that adds a funky and soulful sound that fits perfectly with the band.
This album was recorded live direct to analog tape using a Studer A 80 1/4” two-track tape recorder without any editing or overdubbing.
